Relocating Your Home Gym: Tips for Safe Transport
A home gym is a significant investment in your health. When moving, protecting that investment is paramount. Here are essential tips for safe transport:
1. Remove the Weights
Never move a machine with weights attached. Remove all plates from barbells and weight stacks from machines. Pack weights in smaller, heavy-duty boxes, distributing the weight to avoid breaking the box (or your mover's back!).
2. Secure Moving Parts
Cables, pulleys, and arms can swing during transport, causing damage. Use zip ties or moving wrap to secure these parts to the frame. Wrap cables individually to prevent tangling.
3. Protect the Electronics
For cardio equipment with screens, treat them like TVs. Wrap consoles in bubble wrap and moving blankets. If possible, transport these sensitive components in your personal vehicle.
